Strategies-Making Time For Fitness

Fit Time StrategiesTo complement our previous post "If it's not part of the solution, it's part of the problem," we wanted to add to & give you a few extra tips that are very basic, yet have proved very valuable over the years. It's never too early or too late to make a change, you just have to have right direction.
Time constraints can be a barrier to improving fitness levels when fitness is not a priority. Make fitness a priority by changing your mindset. Acknowledge how important it is to improve your fitness levels, and use that as motivation to commit to health and fitness. In addition, there are a few strategies that can help you make time.

  1. Choose activities that you enjoy. If you hate to run, then go for a brisk walk, go to the lake & go rowing, or grab that dusty bike in the garage & give it a go. You are more likely to schedule time for activities you enjoy.
  2. Keep it simple. You are more likely to go out for a thirty minute walk than workout at home with specialty equipment.
  3. Make a commitment to fit it in. Even on days where you are busy, find ways to get more activity. Get to work a little early and take the stairs instead of the elevator, or park farther away from the office. By making your goals a priority and managing your time wisely, you can be well on your way to improving your fitness levels.
  4. Consult a Professional.Even if only once every few months, sit down with a Personal Trainer and have them give you a workout outline. These will most often (and should be) custom-tailored for your schedule, your needs, your likes, etc. If you enjoy doing something and achieve what you sought out to achieve, success and consistency is inevitable.
